We’re pleased to announce that we’ve successfully relaunched our Future Business Leader Programme at NFU Mutual. After a full review of our previous programme, the Future Agent Programme, we’ve enhanced the scheme – attracting a full cohort for 2023.
Becoming an Agent of NFU Mutual is a fantastic opportunity, but we recognise that going from an employed position to a self-employed role in our Agency Network is a move that needs careful consideration.
To help people make the move, we’ve strengthened and enhanced our Future Business Leader Programme, which is designed to get people ready to apply for a self-employed Agent role within 18-24 months. Through a balance of hands-on experience and professional qualifications, the Programme offers people an opportunity to gain insight into the Agent role within a secure and supportive environment.
Emma Martin, Agency Development & Project Consultant, who has been instrumental in relaunching the Programme, said, “We recognised that some candidates needed more support to make the transition into a self-employed Agent role, so we redesigned our Future Business Leaders programme to help them make the move with confidence. The programme provides the perfect opportunity to work alongside existing Agents, learn from their experience and build relationships with the NFU Mutual teams who support them. Following previous successes, we will open it up to other Agent candidates in the future.”
She added, “We’ve also relaunched our Future Senior Business Leader Programme, which is specifically designed to prepare and develop candidates for Senior Agent roles."
What does the Programme involve?
Joining the Future Business Leader Programme on an 18-24 month fixed-term contract, the 2023 cohort will receive all the training, support and development needed to run and grow an insurance business in partnership with other like-minded professionals.
From day one, they’ll be involved in projects where they can add value to the agencies they’ll work in, across the region. Gaining exposure to key business areas across NFU Mutual, they’ll acquire an in-depth knowledge of our portfolio of products, stakeholders and services, including Marketing, Financial Services, Risk Management Services, Underwriting and Wholesale Broking and Outplacement.
Spending time within our Agency Network, they’ll have ongoing support and guidance from a line manager and the regional team as well as having access to a mentor and business coach. The Programme offers the skills needed to secure a future as a self-employed Agent within the NFU Mutual Agency Network.
Who can apply for the Programme?
If you have an entrepreneurial flair, solid leadership skills or a sales career to build on, our Programme could be right for you.
Experience within insurance or financial services is beneficial, but you don’t necessarily need to have a background in insurance to join the Future Business Leader Programme. However, if you’re interested in our Future Senior Business Leader Programme, you’ll need experience within insurance or a related industry, such as Financial Services.
Ultimately, we look for business leaders who know they want to run their own business but need support to move into a self-employed role.
