Meet some of the Agents

Emily Mills, Senior Agent (Tiverton)

Being a self-employed NFU Mutual Agent means you can make your own decisions. You have total flexibility to grow and develop your team and business in your own way, deciding what’s in the best interests of your business to deliver great client service.

No two days are ever the same. For example, one day I can be talking to an MD of a multi-million-pound business and the next I can be walking around a dairy farm in my wellies. It makes it fun to come to work every day.

Caroline Thorne, Farming Agent (South West)

The NFU Mutual’s proposition stands out from our competitors and I enjoy being able to be there for our clients and the wider communities. The link with the NFU means we can provide all-round support when our clients need it, which is very satisfying and unique to us.

The absolute high for me is the team that we employ. I love building a strong team – setting out our own values, vision and goals as an agency, developing the team so they can deliver results and reaping the rewards.

John Herbert, Senior Agent (Clifton and Wrington)

I enjoy selling products and services that do the right thing for customers. And with NFU Mutual, it’s always about the customer, not the sale. So, as an agency, we’re small enough to care about people and communities, but we have a huge support network. Being self-employed is empowering.

It’s given me the flexibility to earn what I’m worth, choose the team around me and put my stamp on the business, while being the kind of hands-on dad I want to be. Every day is different – working with customers, leading my team and meeting farmers as the NFU representative. I’ve learned such a lot – about farming, accounting, recruiting and leadership. It’s been life-changing.
